Rumours and Uncertainty have emerged within the All Progressives Congress in Owo/Ose Federal Constituency following reports that some aspirants in the forthcoming House of Representatives primary may be affected by issues arising from the party’s review process.
Party sources indicated that a number of aspirants are facing challenges linked to petitions and observations during the review exercise, though the party’s review committee has yet to release an official pronouncements on the status of any candidate.
Among those mentioned by sources is Hon. Ayodeji Arowele, whose name has been linked to petitions submitted to the review panel.
Sources within the party said concerns raised in the petitions are being considered, while consultations among stakeholders continue.
Also said to be affected by the review process is Lekan Olotu, an accountant based in Abuja. However, details surrounding the issues raised concerning his eligibility have not been officially disclosed.
Another aspirant, Hon. Dr. Adeyemi Olayemi, popularly known as Koko, has also attracted attention in the constituency over allegations raised by some stakeholders regarding past educational and institutional affiliations.
Some party members alleged that his name had been associated with a privately owned institution outside Nigeria that later came under public scrutiny over its accreditation status, with claims that some students were affected and reportedly lost their admissions.
The situation was said to have prompted the National Universities Commission to list the institution among 58 unapproved universities in its 2023 advisory.
The matter, however, remains part of internal review discussions, and no official finding has been announced by the committee.
The development has generated reactions among party members and supporters in Owo and Ose local government areas, as consultations intensify ahead of the primary election.
Sources said some of the affected aspirants have continued engagements with party leaders and officials in a bid to address concerns raised during the review process.
The APC review committee had not issued an official statement confirming any disqualification, while attempts to obtain direct comments from some of the aspirants were unsuccessful.
