The Ondo State Government has allayed public fears following the circulation of a leaked security memo from the Department of State Services (DSS) warning of a possible terrorist attack in parts of the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, the government confirmed awareness of the leaked document addressed to the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Akure.
Ajanaku explained that the leaked memo was part of the regular intelligence-sharing process among security agencies and not an indication of imminent danger.
According to him, such reports are routine assessments meant to strengthen security coordination and preventive measures across the state.
“The public can be assured that these reports are being acted upon by the government and relevant security agencies,” the statement read. “Necessary precautions are being taken to ensure the safety and security of lives and property.”
He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding while reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest security formation.
Ajanaku further noted that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa remains in constant communication with all security agencies and has intensified measures, particularly in border communities, to safeguard the state.
“Ondo remains one of the safest states in Nigeria,” he said, appealing to citizens to continue cooperating with security operatives to prevent any potential threat.
