Nigeria’s oil and gas industry has achieved a major breakthrough with the commissioning of the $400 million Otakikpo Onshore Crude Oil Export Terminal, established by Green Energy International Limited (GEIL).
The landmark facility, the first wholly indigenous crude export terminal in over five decades was launched under the leadership of Professor Anthony Adegbulugbe, an illustrious son of Ondo State and proud alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.
Prof. Adegbulugbe, a renowned energy expert and former Special Adviser on Energy and Strategic Matters to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, spearheaded the project as part of his commitment to advancing indigenous participation in Nigeria’s energy sector.
The newly commissioned terminal, located at Otakikpo in Rivers State, is expected to enhance crude oil export capacity, create employment opportunities, and strengthen local content development in the petroleum industry.
Industry stakeholders described the project as a shining example of visionary leadership, technical depth, and Nigerian innovation.
They commended Prof. Adegbulugbe’s role in driving a project that showcases the potential of homegrown expertise to deliver world-class infrastructure.
