The Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, CFR, will on Monday, September 15, 2025, commence his traditional Ulefunta annual leave.
The sacred leave, which will last for seven days, runs from Monday, September 15, to Sunday, September 21, 2025.
As part of the customs guiding the Ulefunta period, residents and visitors in Akure Metropolis are prohibited from drumming or beating drums under any guise throughout the seven days.
In addition, the road leading to the Deji’s Palace will be closed to commuters, and all road users are advised to take alternative routes.
Markets, shops, and stalls around the Deji’s Palace will also remain closed for the duration of the seclusion.
The palace urged residents to comply with the directives, assuring them that the period will be used by the monarch to pray for peace, prosperity, and the wellbeing of Akure Land and its people.
