President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on the occasion of his 60th birthday, commending his leadership and dedication to the continued growth and development of Lagos State.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday, the President reflected on Sanwo-Olu’s impressive trajectory in public service, noting his long-standing ties to the state’s governance structure and his mentorship under Tinubu’s administration.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, the sixth democratically elected governor of Lagos State, previously held notable positions, including Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos State Property Development Corporation (LSDPC) and Commissioner in several key ministries such as Economic Planning and Budget; Commerce and Industry; and Establishments, Training, and Pensions.
President Tinubu praised Sanwo-Olu’s alignment with the Lagos master plan initiated during his (Tinubu’s) own tenure as governor between 1999 and 2007, citing recent infrastructure milestones like the completion of the Blue and Red Rail lines and the planned Purple Line project to serve the Lekki axis.
“Your execution of this vision is evident in transformative projects,” Tinubu said, urging the governor to remain focused on high-impact developments. “I encourage you to continue this momentum by prioritising critical initiatives, especially the long-anticipated Fourth Mainland Bridge and the Freedom Way to VGC Road.”
The President concluded his message by wishing Governor Sanwo-Olu good health, long life, and continued service to Lagos State and Nigeria.
