The Ondo State Football Association (ODFA) has called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to appoint administrators with sporting backgrounds into key leadership positions to revive the state’s sports sector.
In a communiqué issued after its congress and signed by Chairman Akinsola Akindipe and Secretary Segun Giwa, the ODFA urged the governor to work with knowledgeable football experts and revisit the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) blueprint to restore the game’s development.
The association also appealed for the speedy completion of the playing pitch at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure and expressed concern over the shortage of football coaches in the state sports council.
While congratulating the governor on his first 100 days in office, the FA reaffirmed its support for the management of Sunshine Stars FC and expressed optimism about the club’s return to the top tier. It also announced plans to launch an age-grade football competition to nurture local talents and confirmed it would pursue a legal case over the FA election outcome.
