Newly sworn-in Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged to continue the developmental strides of his late predecessor, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, while calling on all stakeholders to join hands in moving the state forward.
Speaking at his inauguration ceremony at the Akure Stadium, Aiyedatiwa expressed deep sorrow over Akeredolu’s absence, describing him as a “visionary leader” who dedicated nearly seven years to the state’s growth.
“He laid the foundation for a modern Ondo, and it is my solemn duty to ensure that his legacies endure,” Aiyedatiwa said. “We will build on his dreams for a safer, more prosperous, and more inclusive state.”
He reassured citizens that his government would not discriminate based on political, religious, or ethnic affiliations and urged opposition parties to work together with his administration.
“Our collective progress matters more than partisan differences. There is room for everyone in the development of Ondo State,” he emphasized.
Aiyedatiwa the 7th democratically elected governor who was sworn in by Chief Judge of Ondo state, justice Olusegun Odusola, outlined his administration’s key priorities, including strengthening security, enhancing justice delivery, boosting agriculture and the blue economy, and implementing urban renewal projects to attract investors.
Top Political dignitaries, including APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and former governors Olusegun Mimiko and Olusegun Osoba, among others attended the inauguration.
