Traditional rulers and residents across parts of Ondo State have commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for intensifying infrastructure development, as he commissioned key road and healthcare projects to mark his first anniversary in office.
The governor on Friday inaugurated the Aiyegunle–Iwaro Oka Road in Oka-Akoko and a cluster of roads in Owo Local Government Area, reaffirming that road construction and rehabilitation remain central to his administration’s development agenda.
Speaking during the ceremony, Aiyedatiwa described the projects as major milestones in his one year in office, noting that his administration had completed several impactful projects within a short period.
He said the six-kilometre Aiyegunle–Iwaro Oka Road, executed with durable materials, would enhance transportation and serve as a vital corridor for moving agricultural produce within and outside the state.
According to him, improving road infrastructure in Akokoland became necessary due to the area’s rich agricultural potential, ensuring farm produce reaches markets on time and retains economic value.
In Owo, the governor also commissioned Opomulero, Iselu and Isuada roads, as well as rehabilitated Falodun and Kajola roads, covering about 3.5 kilometres.
He said the projects would improve connectivity, boost commerce, reduce travel time and restore dignity to residents who had endured years of dilapidated infrastructure.
Aiyedatiwa reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance, assuring that no community would be neglected under his OUR EASE policy framework, which prioritises development in infrastructure, healthcare, education and agriculture.
Through his deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, the governor also inaugurated an upgraded Primary Health Care facility and newly constructed staff quarters in Owo, noting that accessible and affordable healthcare remains a priority.
He disclosed that 112 primary healthcare centres across the state are undergoing upgrades, with 51 already completed.
The Olubaka of Oka, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, praised the governor for completing the Aiyegunle–Iwaro Road, which he said previous administrations failed to deliver.
Similarly, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, commended the governor for improving infrastructure and appointing indigenes of the community into key positions, noting that the projects have boosted economic activities.
Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr Abiola Olawoye, described the projects as evidence of the administration’s commitment to transforming the state, while health officials also applauded the government’s investment in primary healthcare.
Several government officials, lawmakers, traditional rulers and community leaders attended the commissioning ceremonies.
