In a decisive move to fast-track infrastructure renewal across Ondo State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has approved the construction and rehabilitation of over 101 kilometres of roads alongside new public building projects, including hostels for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko.
The approvals were among key resolutions reached at the State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting held on Monday, October 27, 2025, in Akure, presided over by the Governor.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, disclosed that the Council approved 66.421 kilometres of new roads and 34.615 kilometres of rehabilitation and reconstruction works, totalling 101.036 kilometres of road development.
He said the projects span major routes across the three senatorial districts , including Omotosho–Igbotako–Iju-Odo Road in Okitipupa, Danjuma–Bolajoko Road in Akure, and College Road–Irewole in Igbokoda , aimed at easing movement, enhancing commerce, and opening up rural communities for growth.
The Council also ratified the construction of a 216-bed hostel at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko, to improve corps members’ welfare.
In addition, the government approved the construction of a two-storey building for the Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption Commission, and the renovation of several ministry buildings, including those of TESCOM, HMB, Energy and Mineral Resources, Water Resources, Women Affairs, and Lands and Housing.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, announced the appointment of three new traditional rulers:
- Prince Emmanuel Adetutu Ifasole, Akinuwa of Ipindo (Ondo West);
- Prince Bamikole Adeyefa, Elemure of Emure-Ile (Owo); and
- Prince Akintoye Felix Adeoye, Oloke of Okeigbo (Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo).
He also confirmed the constitution of a Warrant Chiefs Committee for the Olojoda Chieftaincy in line with due process.
Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, said the decisions reaffirm Governor Aiyedatiwa’s focus on delivering tangible, life-touching projects across all sectors.
“This government is focused on projects that touch lives directly. Governor Aiyedatiwa is determined to deliver visible results through massive infrastructure renewal,” Ajanaku stated.
He added that all approved projects will be closely monitored for quality and timely completion, reflecting the administration’s renewed commitment to transparency and development.
