University basketball teams across Ondo State are set to battle for glory in the upcoming “Our Ease Students’ Festival 1.0” , a state-wide sporting and educational celebration marking the 2025 International Students’ Day.
The festival, scheduled to hold from November 13 to 17, 2025, at the indoor sports hall of the Akure Sports Complex, is expected to feature thrilling basketball contests among tertiary institutions, alongside other student-centered activities promoting sportsmanship and academic excellence.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, the Director of the Ondo State Student Athlete Development Office (OSSADO), Mr. Olabode James, said the initiative is targeted at discovering and nurturing new sports talents across the state’s higher institutions.
According to him, “the initiative is designed to identify promising players, groom them to stardom, and prepare them to represent Ondo State and Nigeria at national and international levels.”
The event forms part of the initiatives introduced by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, Hon. Kevin Solomon Olaolu (KSO), who emphasized the crucial role of sports and education in shaping modern-day students and youths.
Hon. Olaolu expressed gratitude to the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his unwavering support and approval of the festival, describing it as another milestone in the administration’s commitment to youth development.
“In truth, our ease has come to the student community and to Ondo State in general,” he declared.
With enthusiasm already building across campuses, the “Our Ease Students’ Festival 1.0” promises to be an exciting blend of competition, creativity, and camaraderie among Ondo State’s vibrant student population.
