Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to strengthening collaboration among security agencies in the state, ensuring that Ondo remains one of the safest in Nigeria.
The Governor gave the assurance when he received the National Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Abubakar Ahmed, who led a delegation of senior officers on a courtesy visit to the Government House, Akure, on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Prof. Ahmed commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his consistent support to security operations in the state, describing him as one of the few governors in the country providing strong operational backing to the Corps.
“Your Excellency, I am in Ondo State for operational activities, and it is important for me to pay you a visit to appreciate all your efforts toward enhancing the security of this state,” the NSCDC boss stated.
“Just like your predecessor, the late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, you have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to security. Your continuous support has strengthened our capacity to protect lives, property, and national assets across the state.”
He explained that the visit also aimed to assess the operational situation in the state and motivate officers who have been working tirelessly to keep communities safe. Prof. Ahmed assured that the Corps would continue to deepen its partnership with the Ondo State Government and other security agencies in tackling emerging threats.
Responding, Governor Aiyedatiwa commended the NSCDC for its dedication to internal security and protection of critical national infrastructure, especially in combating oil theft and pipeline vandalism.
The Governor noted that the synergy among security formations in the state had yielded positive results, pointing to recent intelligence-sharing efforts as evidence of improved coordination.
“No state is entirely free from security challenges, but I am proud that our security agencies in Ondo State have been working closely and effectively to protect our people,” Aiyedatiwa said.
“The recently leaked intelligence report between agencies is not a sign of weakness, but proof that our operatives are communicating, exchanging information, and collaborating to secure our communities.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that his administration would continue to provide logistics, intelligence support, and welfare incentives to security personnel across the state as a form of encouragement for their sacrifices.
He recalled convening an emergency State Security Council meeting last week to review security strategies and strengthen rapid-response mechanisms, stressing that “the peace and stability of Ondo State are non-negotiable.”
The Governor assured that his government would remain proactive, responsive, and decisive in addressing any emerging security threats, reaffirming that the safety of residents remains a top priority.
