Mrs. Olufunke Ojapinwa, wife of the Commissioner of Police, Kayode Ojapinwa, has lauded the 2025 edition of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) National Convention held in Lagos, describing it as a timely and impactful gathering aimed at strengthening the support system behind the nation’s law enforcement community.
A retired school head teacher and respected educationist, Mrs. Ojapinwa, who was in attendance throughout the three-day event, praised the leadership of POWA for curating a rich and purposeful convention that addressed not only welfare concerns but also the empowerment of police families across the federation.
She specifically commended the leadership of POWA, led by Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, wife of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for her outstanding leadership and the numerous empowerment initiatives that have uplifted women and families within the police community. “Mrs. Egbetokun has brought a refreshing wave of purpose and dedication to POWA. Her vision and commitment to the welfare of police families are evident in the quality and depth of this convention,” she said.
Speaking shortly after the closing session, which featured a courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos at his Iga Idunganran palace, Mrs. Ojapinwa emphasized the importance of unity, enlightenment, and service among police officers’ wives. She noted that the convention created a platform for networking, policy discussion, and shared learning that would have a lasting impact on the lives of women supporting officers at various levels.
The 2025 POWA convention drew participants from all states of the federation and featured sessions on entrepreneurship, health, family welfare, and national security awareness.
The closing visit to the Oba of Lagos added cultural depth and royal endorsement to the gathering, further reinforcing the association’s commitment to community-building and nationhood.
