In a bold move to consolidate political strength and unify the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has directed all political support groups across the state to operate under the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This directive was issued on Friday, August 1, 2025, during a strategic meeting of the Ondo State APC Leaders Caucus held at the Government House Banquet Hall in Akure.
The meeting, convened to mirror the party’s National Caucus structure, brought together key stakeholders, elected officials, and party veterans in a show of unity and renewed purpose.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the supremacy of the party in all political activities within the state, urging every support platform to harmonize their operations within the APC’s institutional
framework. He also unveiled a statewide mobilisation structure tagged “Ondo State for Tinubu 2027”, which was unanimously endorsed by the caucus to champion President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Highlighting development strides in his administration, the Governor updated attendees on grassroots-focused initiatives, notably the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme, recently approved by the National Economic Council to deepen infrastructural impact across communities.
The meeting reaffirmed the APC’s dominance in the state, with leaders pledging continued support for both Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration and President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The endorsement came at the end of a high-level party caucus meeting, where the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, and the APC State Secretary, Mrs. Roseline Okafor, were appointed to coordinate the secretariat of the caucus.
Present at the meeting were Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami and two of his predecessors, Alhaji Ali Olanusi and Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo. Others included Senator Jide Ipinsagba (Ondo North), Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire (Ondo Central), and former senators Titus Olupitan and Remi Okunrinboye.
Also in attendance were Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, and former Speakers Kenneth Olawale, Victor Olabimtan, and Bamidele Oleyeloogun. Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Ololade Gbegudu, alongside former Deputy Speakers Dare Emiola and Abayomi Akinruntan, were also present.
Members of the House of Representatives at the meeting included Hon. Abiola Makinde, Hon. Derin Adesida, and Hon. Jimi Odimayo, as well as former members Ifedayo Abegunde, Gbenga Elegbeleye, Kolawole Babatunde, and Tajudeen Adefisoye.
The meeting was led by the APC State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, with former chairpersons of the defunct ACN, Mrs. Jumoke Ajasin-Anifowose and Ambassador Sola Iji, also in attendance.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Hon. Derin Adesida said the caucus gathering aligns with the APC constitution, allowing party leaders to strategize on the party’s direction. Ambassador Sola Iji lauded the Governor for convening the constitutional caucus, describing it as a platform for senior stakeholders.
Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde praised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his proactive leadership and dedication to the party’s progress and the state’s development.
