The OWN ONDO 2028 movement has paid tribute to the late former Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON, on the occasion of his posthumous 70th birthday, describing him as a courageous leader whose legacy continues to inspire the state.
In a commemorative statement, the movement praised Akeredolu’s distinguished legal career, noting that he rose to become a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), served as Ondo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, and later as the 24th President of the Nigerian Bar Association, where he championed the rule of law and judicial independence.
It also highlighted his achievements as governor, including major infrastructure projects, rural development, and his leadership in establishing the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun Corps) as Chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum.
The statement noted that his strong advocacy for state policing and constitutional federalism earned him national respect.
The movement described Akeredolu, who passed away on December 27, 2023, while serving his second term in office, as a visionary leader whose commitment to integrity, security, and good governance remains a benchmark for public service.
OWN ONDO 2028 urged citizens to uphold the values he stood for and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting visionary leadership and sustainable development in Ondo State.
