U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran, declaring that the United States is prepared to unleash a massive military response if Tehran attempts to assassinate him or any sitting U.S. president.
In a strongly worded statement, Trump said he has directed the U.S. military to keep “1,000 missiles locked and loaded” for immediate deployment against Iran should such an attack occur.
He added that the standing order would remain in effect for one year unless renewed.
The warning comes amid renewed tensions between Washington and Tehran following intelligence reports alleging continued Iranian threats against Trump. U.S. authorities have previously accused Iran of plotting retaliation over the 2020 killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, allegations that Tehran has consistently denied.
