The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure North Local Government has received a fresh wave of defectors from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in a move party leaders described as a boost to its growing political strength ahead of future elections.
The defection ceremony, held at the residence of Pa Nathaniel Ibideji Babalola, was attended by the Chairman of Akure North Local Government, Hon. Ogunbolude Johnson, the APC Chairman in the council, Hon. Dare Fadumo, local government executives, ward chairmen, party elders and other stakeholders.
Welcoming the new members, Hon. Ogunbolude described their decision to join the APC as a step in the right direction, noting that the party remains the ruling platform at the federal, state and local government levels.
He urged the defectors to abide by the party’s constitution, work harmoniously with existing members and contribute their experience toward strengthening the APC in Akure North.
He also advised the new members to quickly integrate into the party structure, stressing that the APC is bigger than any individual and thrives on unity, discipline and collective commitment.
In his remarks, the APC Chairman in Akure North, Hon. Dare Fadumo, congratulated the defectors for joining what he described as the largest political party in Africa. He commended their decision and urged them to mobilise support for the APC ahead of future elections.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Hon. Ebenezer Adeniyi, a former Supervisory Councillor from Ayetoro Ward 3, thanked the APC leadership for the warm reception and pledged to remain a loyal and law-abiding member of the party.
Another defector, Hon. Famudehin, said his decision to join the APC was influenced by the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the developmental strides of Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and what he described as the impactful leadership of Hon. Ogunbolude Johnson in Akure North.
He pledged his full support and loyalty to the APC, assuring party leaders of his commitment to its growth and success in future elections.
