Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, has unveiled the official uniform and tactical identity of the newly established “IRU EKUN” Security Network, a regional outfit aimed at strengthening grassroots security operations across the South West.
The development comes amid growing concerns over insecurity, kidnapping, and criminal activities within forest areas and rural communities in the region.
According to information released alongside the unveiling, the IRU EKUN Security Network was created to complement local efforts in protecting forests, farmlands, and communities from criminal elements. The group is expected to focus on intelligence gathering, forest surveillance, and rapid community response operations.
The newly revealed tactical appearance of the outfit features coordinated security uniforms and operational gear designed for field activities across difficult terrains within the South Western states.
The announcement has since generated reactions across social media, with supporters describing the initiative as a bold move toward community-based security, while others called for proper collaboration with relevant government security agencies to avoid operational conflicts.
Security challenges, especially cases of abduction and attacks on farmers, have remained major concerns in parts of the South West, prompting increased calls for localized security structures and stronger regional vigilance operations.
