Defending champions Rangers International have emerged winners of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Sunday.
The Flying Antelopes sealed their ninth league crown under coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, making it their second NPFL triumph in three years after a thrilling final-day showdown.
Backed by a large home crowd, Ikorodu City struggled to contain Rangers’ attacking pressure as Chidiebere Nwobodo opened scoring in the 30th minute of the first half before doubling the advantage seven minutes into the second half.
The hosts responded in the 59th minute through Moses Bada, who reduced the deficit and sparked hopes of a comeback, but Rangers held firm to secure the historic victory.
Rangers finished the campaign with 65 points, just one point ahead of second-placed Rivers United, who ended the season on 64 points to also secure qualification for next season’s CAF Champions League.
Shooting Stars claimed a CAF Confederation Cup ticket after returning to continental football for the first time in 26 years.
At the bottom of the table, relegation heartbreak hit Remo Stars, El-Kanemi Warriors, Bayelsa United and Wikki Tourists, who all dropped to the Nigeria National League.
The 2025/26 NPFL season ends with Rangers once again writing their name into Nigerian football history.
