A British social media creator who relocated to West Africa to begin a new life with her husband has died alongside her unborn child following sudden medical complications late in her pregnancy.
Claire Chadwick, forty, originally from South Wales, was thirty-seven weeks pregnant when her unborn baby girl passed away in the womb, leading to a secondary bacterial infection that rapidly escalated into fatal septic shock.
The Cardiff native moved to Nigeria after marrying her husband, Ibrahim, and the couple quickly built a dedicated global following on TikTok under the handle Ibrahim and Claire. Their content, which regularly featured cross-cultural lifestyle challenges, relationship advice, and shared expressions of their Christian faith, reached thousands of viewers worldwide.
Her sudden passing has prompted a wave of tributes from family, friends, and social media followers across the globe. Claire’s sister, Shannon Chadwick, described her as a fiercely independent and funny individual who lived life entirely on her own terms, leaving behind a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Claire is survived by her husband in Nigeria and her nineteen-year-old son who resides in Wales.
In the wake of her death, her family launched an emergency GoFundMe campaign to raise ten thousand pounds to cover the logistical and legal costs of flying Claire and her baby daughter three thousand miles back to South Wales for burial.
The drive quickly surpassed its financial goal due to an outpouring of public support. A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed that British authorities are providing consular assistance to the grieving family while repatriation arrangements are finalized.
