Prince Kenny Adekanmi, popularly known as Kenny Kunma, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 House of Representatives election for the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency after emerging as the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a declaration made public through a press release, Adekanmi said his decision followed years of encouragement from constituents, extensive consultations with political stakeholders, socio-cultural groups and community leaders, as well as a period of personal reflection and prayer.
According to him, accepting the call to contest is a patriotic responsibility aimed at improving the lives of the people and accelerating development across Okitipupa and Irele local government areas.
He said he is offering himself to provide a transformative, accountable and people-oriented representation that will place the welfare and aspirations of constituents above personal interests.
Adekanmi expressed confidence that, if entrusted with the mandate of the people in 2027, he would work tirelessly to deliver quality representation, attract meaningful development projects, promote youth empowerment and ensure that the federal constituency receives its fair share of democratic dividends.
The NDC candidate disclosed that after rigorous consultations across the federal constituency, he and his supporters adopted the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as the political platform to actualise their vision, describing the decision as one taken in the overall best interest of the people.
He also confirmed that he has emerged as the party’s candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election.
Expressing appreciation to the leadership of the NDC, party members, supporters and residents of the constituency, Adekanmi thanked them for their confidence in his vision and leadership, irrespective of political affiliation.
He stressed that the forthcoming election should be about electing a representative who genuinely cares about the people and is committed to addressing their needs through effective legislation, oversight and constituency development.
Adekanmi further pledged to reposition the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency office into an efficient platform for attracting development opportunities, creating empowerment programmes and advancing the socio-economic progress of the constituency.
Calling for unity, prayers and collective support, the NDC standard-bearer urged residents to join him in building a future anchored on inclusive governance, sustainable development and responsive representation.
He concluded by expressing confidence that, with the support of the people, the constituency can achieve greater progress and renewed hope ahead of the 2027 general elections.
