The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has officially disengaged Online Integrated Solution (OIS Services) from the collection and submission of Nigerian visa applications in the United States, with immediate effect.
The development means that Nigerians residing in the United States, as well as other prospective travellers requiring entry visas to Nigeria, will no longer process their applications through OIS Centres.
Instead, all visa applications are now to be submitted directly to the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or the Nigerian Consulates in New York and Atlanta until further notice.
In a statement, the NIS said the decision was taken to streamline the visa application process and strengthen direct consular services for applicants.
The Service assured members of the public that the Nigerian Embassy and the two Consulates have put adequate measures in place to ensure seamless submission, processing and issuance of visas during the transition.
Applicants were advised to discontinue the use of OIS Services for visa submissions and to rely only on official communication channels of the Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigeria’s diplomatic missions in the United States for updated information on visa procedures.
The Immigration Service reaffirmed its commitment to improving service delivery and thanked applicants for their understanding and cooperation as the new arrangement takes effect.
