The Nigerian Army has announced a major reshuffle of its senior leadership, approving the appointment and redeployment of General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of military institutions and Brigade Commanders in a move aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness across the country.
The redeployment, approved by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, affects strategic command positions at the Army Headquarters and operational formations nationwide.
Among the key appointments, Major General A.S.M. Wase was named General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division and Commander, Sector 1, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, while Major General C.R. Nnebeife was appointed GOC 2 Division and Commander, Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
Other senior appointments include Major General A.A. Adeyinka as Chief of Logistics, Major General A.A. Adekeye as Chief of Personnel Management, Major General A.A. Idris as Chief of Military Intelligence, Major General M.O. Erebulu as Provost Marshal, Major General E.A. Anaryu as Corps Commander, Supply and Transport, and Major General J.E. Osifo as Director-General of the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation.
The shake-up also saw the appointment of new Commandants for key military training institutions and the redeployment of Brigade Commanders to strategic operational areas across the country as part of efforts to reinforce ongoing military operations.
Lieutenant General Oluyede urged the newly appointed officers to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating professionalism, discipline and commitment in the fight against terrorism, insurgency, banditry and other security threats confronting the nation.
He also reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to improving the welfare of troops while maintaining a high level of operational readiness to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity and national security.
The latest restructuring is expected to enhance command efficiency, strengthen operational coordination and boost the military’s capacity to tackle emerging security challenges across the country’s various theatres of operation.
