A Federal High Court in Katsina State has sentenced a woman, Hauwa’u Mukhtar, to death by hanging after finding her guilty of conspiracy to commit terrorism and aiding terrorist activities.
The court heard that Mukhtar was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on September 16, 2023, at Jibia Motor Park while allegedly attempting to deliver 438 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition to a suspected bandit kingpin in Zamfara State.
After reviewing evidence and witness testimonies presented by the prosecution, the court ruled that the charges had been proved beyond reasonable doubt and convicted her on two counts under the Katsina State Penal Code Law, 2021.
The judgment marks another major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism and banditry, coming amid a series of recent convictions secured through DSS investigations.
In June, another terrorism suspect received the death penalty, while a female arms courier was earlier sentenced to 20 years imprisonment.
Security authorities have continued to intensify efforts to disrupt arms supply networks and dismantle criminal groups operating across the North-West region.
