President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a stern warning to criminal groups across the country following a successful military operation in Kogi State that led to the killing of a notorious bandit leader and the rescue of abducted victims.
The operation, carried out by Nigerian troops, reportedly targeted a long-established criminal network responsible for violent attacks, kidnappings, and killings across parts of Kogi and neighbouring states.
Security sources confirmed that the bandit leader was neutralised during the coordinated offensive, marking a significant breakthrough in ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.
Reacting to the development, President Tinubu commended the armed forces for their bravery and operational success, describing the mission as a clear demonstration of the government’s determination to defeat criminal elements nationwide.
He warned that his administration would not tolerate any form of insecurity or criminal domination of communities, stressing that those involved in banditry, kidnapping, and violent crimes “have no hiding place” in Nigeria.
The President reaffirmed that security remains a top priority of his government, pledging continued support for the military and other security agencies to intensify operations against criminal networks.
Security analysts say the latest operation represents a morale boost for ongoing efforts to restore stability in affected regions, though they caution that sustained pressure will be needed to fully dismantle remaining cells.
