The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially unveiled Alhaja Kudirat Adegunwa Balogun as the deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections, where she will serve as running mate to the party’s governorship flagbearer, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.
The announcement was made on Sunday during a strategic caucus meeting of the party held at the APC secretariat in Abeokuta, the state capital, and presided over by Governor Dapo Abiodun alongside top party stakeholders.
Governor Abiodun said the selection followed extensive consultations within the party and was guided by considerations of zoning, equity, and internal consensus building across Ogun State’s political blocs.
Adegunwa-Balogun, a 51-year-old chartered accountant, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and currently serves as a senior executive in the private sector with over three decades of experience in finance, corporate governance, and business management.
Party leaders described her emergence as part of efforts to strengthen the APC ticket ahead of the 2027 elections and promote inclusiveness in governance.
Senator Adeola, popularly known as “Yayi,” formally presented his running mate at the event, describing her as a competent professional with strong leadership credentials.
The unveiling has been widely interpreted as a strategic move by the ruling party to consolidate support across Ogun East, where the deputy governorship slot was zoned.
