The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council, has commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for appointing Chief Segun Odusanya as the new Head of Service of the state, describing the decision as a reward for competence and seniority.
In a Congratulatory letter jointly signed by the State Chairman of NUJ, Prince Leke Adegbite and the Secretary, Com. Olaoluwa Meshack, the union commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for always maintaining the culture of seniority and picking better among the best as the HoS.
The union described Chief Odusanya as a seasoned administrator and thorough-bred bureaucrat, expressing confidence that his wealth of experience would bring positive innovations and greater efficiency to the Ondo State public service.
While congratulating the new Head of Service, the NUJ appealed to Governor Aiyedatiwa to address what it described as the prolonged marginalisation of senior journalists in the state by appointing qualified directors from the Ministry of Information and the OSRC/Orange FM Media Group as Permanent Secretaries.
The union also urged Chief Odusanya to provide purposeful leadership capable of reinvigorating the civil service and promoting a more result-oriented public service, while supporting efforts to ensure journalists regain representation at the Permanent Secretary level after many years.
Ondo NUJ further expressed appreciation to Governor Aiyedatiwa for signing into law the bill establishing the Ondo State Government Printing and Publishing Corporation, a move aimed at protecting journalists and workers of The Hope newspapers.
The union appealed to the new Head of Service to facilitate the timely implementation of the law establishing the corporation, even as it congratulated Chief Odusanya on his elevation and wished him a successful tenure.
