•••RCCG General Overseer urges FG to target terrorist sponsors, demands decisive action against insecurity
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on the Federal Government to issue a 90-day ultimatum to Nigeria’s security chiefs to eliminate terrorism or step down from their positions.
Adeboye made the call in a video shared on his official social media platform, expressing concern over the persistent wave of insecurity and terrorist activities across the country.
The respected cleric said the government must adopt a more decisive approach in tackling the nation’s security challenges, insisting that the time had come for measurable results in the fight against terrorism.
“If I were asked to make suggestions, I would say quietly to our government, ‘Move fast and tell our security chiefs, get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign,’” he stated.
Adeboye also urged authorities to go beyond confronting armed groups and focus on identifying and prosecuting individuals and networks funding terrorism.
According to him, lasting victory against insecurity cannot be achieved without dismantling the financial and logistical structures that sustain terrorist operations.
“When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, we should make it clear to them that they are not only to eliminate the terrorists; they should eliminate their sponsors, no matter how influential they may be,” he added.
The cleric’s remarks come amid renewed concerns over security across several parts of the country, including attacks by armed groups, kidnappings for ransom and recent cases involving the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers.
His comments are expected to reignite public debate over the effectiveness of Nigeria’s security architecture and the urgent need for stronger measures to protect lives and property.
Security analysts have repeatedly stressed the importance of intelligence gathering, improved coordination among security agencies and the prosecution of terror financiers as critical steps toward ending insecurity in the country.
