President Bola Tinubu has assured families of the abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State that the Federal Government is working tirelessly to secure their safe and speedy release.
The assurance came as a high-powered Federal Government delegation led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, visited Ogbomoso and affected communities on the directive of the President to assess the situation firsthand and engage with victims’ families and community leaders.
Addressing stakeholders during the visit, Gbajabiamila said President Tinubu remains deeply concerned about the plight of the abducted children and has directed security agencies to intensify ongoing rescue operations.
“We are in Ogbomosho on the directive of President Bola Tinubu to obtain a firsthand assessment of the situation, engage with affected families and stakeholders, and reinforce the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that every necessary measure is taken to secure the safe and speedy return of the abducted victims,” he said.
The delegation, which included top security officials, met with traditional rulers, community leaders, and relatives of the victims, assuring them that the Federal Government would not relent until all those still in captivity regain their freedom.
President Tinubu also reiterated his administration’s determination to strengthen security across vulnerable communities and forest corridors to prevent future incidents.
The delegation’s visit follows growing concern over the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers from communities in Oriire Local Government Area, an incident that has attracted nationwide attention.
Residents welcomed the intervention and expressed hope that the renewed commitment from the Federal Government would accelerate efforts to rescue the remaining victims and restore confidence in the security architecture of the area.
The Federal Government further assured the affected communities that every available security and intelligence resource would be deployed to ensure the victims are reunited with their families as quickly as possible.
