Tragedy struck in Oyo State as a teacher abducted during the recent attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area was reportedly killed by his captors, heightening anxiety over the fate of other victims still in captivity.
The deceased, identified as Michael Oyedokun, was among teachers kidnapped when armed bandits invaded schools in Ahoro-Esinele community last week. His death has thrown the community into mourning and renewed concerns over worsening insecurity in the area.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents, who are calling on security agencies to intensify rescue operations for the remaining hostages. Parents and community leaders expressed fears that the situation may deteriorate further if urgent action is not taken.
Seyi Makinde confirmed that security agencies had stepped up efforts to rescue the remaining abducted victims. The state government also disclosed that six suspects had been arrested in connection with the attack, with some believed to have provided information to the kidnappers.
