The Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Ondo and Lord Bishop of Akure Anglican Diocese, Most Revd Simeon Oluwole Borokini Ph.D, CFAT, has commenced his valedictory episcopal visits across archdeaconries with the kickoff at Akure North Archdeaconry in Ondo State.
The Archbishop, accompanied by his wife, Princess Christianah Adetumbi Borokini, who is the President of the Women Organisation of the Diocese, and Hon Sir Simeon Toluwani Borokini (KSC) and other members of his immediate family, arrived on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Idi-Aagba Titun, Akure, the Archdeaconry headquarters.
He was received with great enthusiasm by the Chairperson of the Planning Committee, Chief Mrs Modupe Adetula,
members of the Archdeaconry, including the Team Ministry, Synod Delegates, Archdeaconry Board Members, Parish Church Council Members, Clerical and Lay Secretariat, Legal Officers, Church Chiefs, Women Organisations, Boys and Girls Brigades, youths, Church Marshals, the choir, and the children’s ministry, all celebrating with songs and thanksgiving.
The service began with opening prayers led by Ven. Akinnubi after a series of praise sessions by the choir and women’s groups.
The event was anchored by Lanre Adeyekun on behalf of the Clerical and Lay Secretariat.
Several prominent dignitaries were present at the event, including Hon Justice Olayemi Akintan-Osadebay, Chancellor of the Diocese; Hon Justice W. Rotimi Olamide, Deputy Chancellor I; and Hon Justice Revd Temitope Adedipe, Deputy Chancellor II.
Others present were: Barrister Idowu Olatunde Aladedutire, Registrar; the Provost-Elect of St David’s Cathedral,Ijomu,Very Revd Prof Ayo Atowoju; and the host Archdeacon, Stephen Elatuyi.
Also in attendance were several Archdeacons across the Diocese, including Stephen Ogunyemi, S. I. O Amure, B. K. Babalola, Akinboro, Oyegbemi, Akinnubi, Saani, and John Olugbenga Oso, who also serves as Clerical Secretary.
Members of the Team Ministry from St. Luke’s, Akure; Emmanuel Church, Akure; St. Thomas’s Isinigbo; St. David’s Osi, and Church of Advent Oshinle and their wives who serve as coordinators of the women organizations in the parishes were fully represented.
Other notable personalities included Sir Chief (Lay Canon) Segun Odusanya, Assistant Lay Secretary; Chief Surveyor R. S. Ajayi, member of the Primate Advisory Committee; Chief Mrs. Dupe Adetula; Engr. Chief I. I. A. Ojo, Baba Ijo of St. Luke’s; Chief Mrs. S. Kosemani Kolawole, Iya Ijo of St Luke’s Idi Agba
The programme featured special renditions by the choristers and the Girls’ Guide, as well as a goodwill message presented by Chief Surv. R. S. Ajayi on behalf of the Archdeaconry.
Gifts were also presented to the Archbishop by various parishes, women organisations, and church groups, coordinated by Arch Bankole and other leaders.
In his remarks, Archbishop Borokini expressed deep appreciation to the Archdeaconry, commending its leadership role and contributions to the growth of the Diocese.
The vote of thanks was delivered by the host Archdeacon, Ven. Stephen Elatuyi, followed by the ceremonial cutting of cake anchored by Ven. Dr. John Oso.
The event was concluded with group photographs and a closing prayer offered by the Provost, the Very Revd Prof. Ayo Atowoju.
