The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced plans to expand its advocacy efforts beyond Nigeria’s borders, unveiling a global strategy aimed at promoting democratic accountability ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Friday, the party disclosed that it is establishing a Special Representatives Network across major global capitals to engage foreign governments, international media, and democracy-focused institutions.
The initiative, according to the party, is designed to amplify credible information about Nigeria’s political environment and counter what it described as one-sided narratives by the government.
The ADC said the move comes amid what it termed increasing pressure on opposition figures, including alleged attacks on its members, attempts to weaken its leadership, and efforts to limit political participation in the lead-up to the 2027 polls.
As part of the initiative, the party’s representatives will provide regular briefings on political developments, human rights concerns, and issues surrounding electoral integrity. The outreach will also target the Nigerian diaspora in key cities such as Washington DC, London, Brussels, and Addis Ababa.
In addition, the party announced the launch of a National Documentation Initiative to systematically track and report incidents affecting political participation across the country.
The ADC emphasized that the global campaign is aimed at ensuring Nigeria’s democratic process remains transparent and accountable, stressing that the nation’s democracy “must be seen, heard, and defended everywhere.”
