A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Convener of the Asejere Progressive Movement, Mr Dele Omosehin, has congratulated the people of Ondo State on the occasion of the state’s Golden Jubilee, describing the milestone as a celebration of strength, service and shared progress.
In a statement issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the creation of Ondo State on February 3, 1976, Omosehin said the jubilee provides an opportunity to reflect on five decades of resilience, vision and steady development driven by the courage and unity of the people.
He noted that Ondo State has continued to distinguish itself within the Nigerian federation through its rich cultural heritage, agricultural endowments, intellectual contributions and entrepreneurial achievements, adding that the state’s journey reflects a consistent choice of progress over setbacks and unity over division.
According to him, the past 50 years represent more than a historical timeline, but an inspiring story of a people defined by character, industry and collective responsibility, even in the face of challenges.
Omosehin urged citizens to use the Golden Jubilee as a springboard for renewed commitment to the future, stressing that the next phase of development must be anchored on innovation, purposeful youth engagement, inclusive governance and sustainable economic growth that reaches both rural and urban communities.
He emphasised that true greatness is built through vision, sacrifice and shared responsibility, noting that the future of the state depends on how well its young people are nurtured, women empowered, farmers and entrepreneurs supported, and institutions strengthened.
The APC chieftain congratulated Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, members of the State Executive Council, National Assembly members from the state, ministers, traditional rulers, community leaders and citizens for their contributions to the growth and development of Ondo State over the past five decades.
Expressing optimism about the future, Omosehin said he is confident that the next 50 years will usher in greater unity, prosperity and opportunities for all residents.
He concluded that Ondo State at 50 is not only a celebration of history but also a declaration of hope and confidence in a brighter future.
