Prominent businessman and All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, Dele Omosehin, has congratulated Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on the revalidation of the licence for the Ondo Deep Sea Port by the Federal Government.
The revalidated licence was formally presented to Governor Aiyedatiwa by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, in Abuja on Thursday, a development widely seen as a major boost to the state’s industrialisation drive under the Governor’s Our Ease Agenda.
In a statement issued by his media office, Omosehin described the revalidation as a significant milestone for Ondo State’s economic future, particularly for the Southern Senatorial District, noting that the project has the potential to reposition the state as a major maritime and industrial hub.
According to him, the Deep Sea Port would enable direct international trade, eliminate the need for transhipment through other ports, and allow large ocean-going vessels to berth directly in Ondo waters.
Omosehin, who is also the Lisa of Osooro and founder of the Bamidele Omosehin Foundation, said the project would create thousands of direct and indirect jobs for youths in Okitipupa, Irele, and other parts of the state, while also stimulating growth in sectors such as hospitality, financial services, and commerce.
He commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for what he described as visionary leadership and determination in ensuring the project remained on the national agenda, adding that the port would help decongest Lagos ports and position Ondo State as a key player in Nigeria’s maritime economy.
The philanthropist called on stakeholders and prospective investors to support the state government to ensure the timely commencement of construction, stressing that the Bamidele Omosehin Foundation would continue to support initiatives aimed at sustainable development and grassroots empowerment across Ondo State.
