The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, has commended the outgoing Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Ogun State Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, anipr, for her exemplary service, while welcoming DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi as the new police spokesperson in the state.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, and the Secretary, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, the NUJ praised CSP Odutola for her professionalism, openness, and humane approach, which fostered a cordial and mutually respectful relationship between the police and the media during her tenure.
The Council noted that Odutola demonstrated a strong grasp of strategic communication, prompt dissemination of information, and respect for journalistic ethics, all of which enhanced public trust in the Ogun State Police Command and strengthened police–media relations.
The NUJ also acknowledged her accessibility, dedication, and commitment to transparency, describing her contributions as instrumental to effective public engagement. The Council wished her continued success as she proceeds to the Lagos State Police Command for higher national assignments.
Meanwhile, following the recent nationwide redeployment of Police Public Relations Officers of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, appointed DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi as the new PPRO of the Ogun State Police Command.
DSP Babaseyi, a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, brings to the office a wealth of experience in policing, investigations, administration, and public relations, gained from various operational and media-related assignments within the Nigeria Police Force.
The Ogun NUJ expressed confidence that DSP Babaseyi’s expertise and professionalism would further strengthen the existing cordial relationship between the police and the media in the state. The Council assured him of its full cooperation and pledged sustained engagement based on transparency and mutual respect.
