The Chairman of Akure North Local Government, Hon. Ogunbolude Johnson, has extended warm felicitations to the people of Akure North, Ondo State, and Nigerians across the globe on the occasion of the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
In a goodwill message, Ogunbolude described Nigeria’s 65-year journey as one marked by “joy, challenges, progress and setbacks,” noting that successive governments, both military and civilian, have worked to sustain the vision of the country’s founding fathers.
He stressed that while Nigeria has not fully attained its desired goals, the nation has recorded remarkable progress over the decades. He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, urging Nigerians to support government policies with constructive engagement rather than outright condemnation.
“We may not be where we want to be, but we are not where we used to be. Nigeria belongs to all of us, and we must ensure we make it a better place as patriots,” he said.
The council boss urged Nigerians to use the Independence Day celebration as a time for sober reflection by learning from the past, understanding the present, and working collectively to build a prosperous future.
He also paid tribute to the country’s past and present heroes who have sacrificed for national unity and progress, praying that their labour would not be in vain.
Ogunbolude further charged citizens to remain committed to the unity of Nigeria, describing it as the pathway to achieving the nation’s collective dreams.
“It is my prayer that Nigeria shall be great and that the labour of our heroes, past and present, shall not be in vain,” he added.
The chairman congratulated Nigerians once again and wished the nation greater success and peace in the years ahead.
