The Executive Chairman of Akure North Local Government Area, Hon. Ogunbolude Johnson, has inspected the ongoing construction of a storey building containing twelve lock-up shops at the Sango Market, along the Ado-Ekiti Road.
The project, which has significantly transformed the market environment within a few months, drew commendations from dignitaries who accompanied the chairman, including Comrade Bola Taiwo; Comrade Frederick Akinrotoye, President of NULGE Ondo State; Comrade Sanmi Alade, NULGE Chairman, Akure North; Mrs. Adufe, Head of Local Government Administration; and other top officials.
Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Ogunbolude recalled his decisive action shortly after assuming office, when security operatives demolished hideouts used by suspected bandits in the market area.
He explained that rather than leaving the cleared space idle, his administration initiated the construction of a modern trading complex that would serve both as a safe marketplace for traders and as a reliable source of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the council.
He expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and assured that the project would be completed in the coming weeks. According to him, the market complex is a fulfillment of one of the major requests made by traders during his campaign.
The chairman and his team also visited the Akure North Local Government Secretariat in Iju/Ita-Ogbolu, where he showcased newly procured working materials aimed at improving efficiency among political office holders and staff.
He further announced plans for a general renovation of the secretariat and thanked the Ondo State Governor for his support, while also congratulating him on his recent Supreme Court victory.
In his remarks, Comrade Bola Taiwo commended Hon. Ogunbolude Johnson for his achievements within a short period in office and encouraged him to sustain his developmental strides across the local government.
