Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has urged the people of the state to embrace peace and unity, stressing that no price is too high to pay for stability and progress.
In a statewide broadcast following the resolution of the political crisis that rocked the state, the Governor declared that “the costliest peace is cheaper than the cheapest war,” underscoring his administration’s commitment to reconciliation and inclusiveness.
Governor Fubara expressed deep appreciation to all stakeholders including religious leaders, traditional rulers, civil society groups, political actors, women, youths, and citizens at home and abroad, whose prayers and support sustained the state during the tense period.
“We must rise above bitterness and division and channel our energies into rebuilding trust, fostering inclusiveness, and securing a peaceful and prosperous state for all,” he said.
The Governor singled out President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for praise, commending him for his timely intervention that helped restore peace and stability in Rivers State. He also acknowledged the roles played by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajudeen; and other members of the National Assembly in resolving the impasse.
Fubara further thanked the leadership of the Rivers State House of Assembly, respected elders, and other stakeholders for working together to ensure harmony and progress.
Reassuring the people of his administration’s readiness to drive development, the Governor called for collective responsibility across political, ethnic, and religious divides.
“Our diversity is our greatest asset, and our unity the strongest guarantee of our future. Let us join hands in rebuilding our beloved state and securing a future of dignity and progress for everyone,” he declared.
The broadcast ended with prayers for Rivers State and Nigeria, as Governor Fubara reaffirmed his dedication to peace, development, and good governance.
