The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 53-year-old man, Babawale Kolawole of Okeodunwo Street, Igbado, over allegations of incest and repeated sexual abuse of his teenage niece.
Police spokesperson, Ayanlade Olusola, said the case was reported on September 13, 2025, when the 16-year-old victim revealed that her uncle had subjected her to constant sexual assault.
She alleged that the abuse occurred almost daily, and that the suspect facilitated the termination of two pregnancies resulting from the assaults.
Following the report, the Command’s Gender-Based Offences Unit promptly arrested the suspect, who has since been arraigned in court and remanded in custody pending trial.
The Command reiterated its zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence, assuring the public of its determination to protect the rights of women and children while ensuring offenders face the full weight of the law.
It also commended members of the public for timely reporting of such cases and urged continued vigilance to aid swift police intervention.
