The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired back at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stating that the opposition party is solely responsible for its internal crisis and political challenges.
In a statement issued in Abuja on April 2, 2026, the APC, through its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, dismissed allegations that it was undermining the ADC, describing such claims as baseless and a diversion from the party’s internal issues.
The ruling party accused the ADC of failing to manage its internal affairs, alleging that the crisis within the party stemmed from what it described as a “reckless misadventure” involving its factional leadership.
The APC specifically referenced the emergence of a faction allegedly led by David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, claiming their actions violated the party’s constitutional provisions and disregarded due process.
It further maintained that the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to de-recognise the factional leadership was in line with a valid court judgment and consistent with democratic principles.
According to the APC, it is “irresponsible” for the ADC to blame external forces for what it termed self-inflicted problems, insisting that a party unable to resolve its internal disputes cannot be trusted to govern effectively.
The ruling party also criticised the ADC for what it described as a lack of clear policy direction, accusing it of focusing primarily on attacking the APC rather than presenting viable alternatives to Nigerians.
Reaffirming its position, the APC stated that it remains committed to delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and strengthening democratic institutions for national development.
The exchange marks the latest in a series of political confrontations, accusations and counter accusations between the two parties amid evolving dynamics within Nigeria’s political landscape.
