The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ondo State Chapter, has extended warm congratulations to Hon. Omoyofunmi Segun Henry on his recent appointment as the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Ondo State.
In a congratulatory statement jointly signed by the chapter’s Chairman, Mr. Segun Giwa, and Secretary, Mr. Joseph Adesuyan, the association described the appointment as both timely and fitting, coming at a period when visionary leadership is needed to transform youth engagement and sports development across the state.
“Henry brings to the office a compelling blend of youthful energy, proven leadership, and a deep passion for grassroots development,” the statement read.
The group noted his history of impactful student leadership and community-driven initiatives aimed at empowering youth. They also highlighted his consistent involvement in mentoring programmes and his commendable public service record, describing him as “a round peg in a round hole.”
SWAN Ondo expressed strong confidence that the new commissioner will usher in a new era marked by inclusive policies, strategic partnerships, and infrastructural growth across the youth and sports sectors of the state.
The association further pledged its full support and collaboration with the commissioner to elevate the standard of sports in the state and to create a viable platform for youth empowerment.
