President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally submitted his nomination form to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), officially signaling his bid for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
The President also confirmed that Vice President Kashim Shettima will remain his running mate for the 2027 poll, putting to rest weeks of speculation over a possible change to the party’s presidential ticket.
The announcement was conveyed by Ibrahim Masari, Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, who presented Tinubu’s nomination form and that of Vice President Shettima during a brief ceremony attended by APC leaders and party stakeholders at the Continental Hotel in Abuja.
Masari stated that the President’s decision reflects his confidence in the Tinubu-Shettima partnership and the administration’s commitment to continuity, stability, and the implementation of its Renewed Hope Agenda.
Senior APC officials at the event welcomed the development, describing the retention of Shettima as a demonstration of unity and consistency within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general election.
The submission of the nomination forms marks a significant step in the APC’s preparations for the next presidential election, with the Tinubu-Shettima ticket expected to seek a second four-year mandate.
