The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a suspected vehicle thief in Abuja and recovered a stolen Hyundai saloon car following a swift intelligence-led operation.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Adesola Ogunrotifa, was employed as a personal driver by Mrs. Remilekun of Oba-Ile, Akure, in July 2025.
According to the police, the incident occurred on July 5, 2026, when the suspect drove his employer to Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, Akure, for a church service. After dropping her off, he allegedly fled with her vehicle and headed for Abuja without her consent.
Upon receiving the complaint, detectives from B-Division, Akure, launched an intensive investigation, using intelligence and strategic tracking to locate the suspect in Abuja. He was arrested and the stolen vehicle was recovered intact.
The suspect has since been arraigned before a competent court to face prosecution.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism, the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, praised the investigating team for their swift response and successful recovery of the vehicle.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring that criminal elements find no safe haven within or outside Ondo State.
The Police also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities, assuring the public of continued dedication to protecting lives and property across the state.
