Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has declared that the people of the North-East will reward President Bola Tinubu with massive votes in the 2027 general election following the approval and commencement of the N1.245 trillion Gombe-Biu highway reconstruction project.
Ndume commended President Tinubu and the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for flagging off the dualisation and reconstruction of the 125-kilometre road, describing it as a major intervention that would boost economic activities, improve connectivity and strengthen security across the region.
The former Senate Leader said he had consistently pushed for the rehabilitation of the strategic corridor under previous administrations, stressing that the road plays a critical role in regional integration and interstate mobility.
According to him, the Tinubu administration’s decision to execute the project demonstrates a commitment to addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges in the North-East.
Ndume noted that the project would unlock economic opportunities and improve the quality of life of residents, expressing confidence that the people of the region would appreciate the gesture and reciprocate with their votes in future elections.
He also appealed to the Federal Government to extend the road network from Biu to Maiduguri, Monguno, Ngala and Yola, saying such expansion would further enhance trade and support security operations in the region.
The remarks followed the official flag-off of the N1.245 trillion Gombe-Biu road project by the Federal Government.
