Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has launched a nationwide whistleblower initiative aimed at tackling the illegal use of its branded trucks, offering a ₦500,000 cash reward to individuals who provide credible information leading to the arrest of offenders or the interception of unauthorized goods.
The initiative is part of the company’s renewed efforts to protect the integrity of its logistics operations, safeguard its brand and eliminate illegal commercial haulage involving Dangote-branded vehicles across the country.
According to the company, only approved products from its subsidiaries are permitted to be transported in Dangote trucks. It warned that any vehicle found conveying unauthorized goods would be regarded as engaging in illegal haulage and would attract appropriate sanctions.
Dangote explained that trucks belonging to its various business units are designated for specific products. Dangote Cement trucks are authorized to transport only cement, limestone, gypsum, coal and clinker.
Dangote Sugar Refinery trucks are restricted to sugar products, while NASCON Allied Industries trucks are approved solely for Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products.
Similarly, Dangote Packaging trucks are designated for bags and packaging materials, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals trucks are authorized to transport polypropylene products, while Dangote Fertiliser Limited trucks are approved exclusively for the haulage of urea fertilizer.
The company warned that drivers found transporting unauthorized goods, as well as the owners of such goods, risk arrest, confiscation of the cargo and prosecution in accordance with the law.
To encourage public participation, Dangote Industries stated that anyone whose information leads to the arrest of offenders or the recovery of illegally transported goods will receive a ₦500,000 cash reward.
Members of the public have been encouraged to report suspicious activities by providing details such as the truck’s registration number, cab number, location, description of the goods being transported, the vehicle’s colour and, where possible, photographs to assist investigators.
The company reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy against the misuse of its trucks, emphasizing that the whistleblower initiative is designed to strengthen accountability, protect legitimate business operations and ensure that those engaged in illegal activities are brought to justice.
