Amid growing concerns over insecurity in Ondo State, ranging from kidnapping and armed robbery to attacks on farmers and other violent crimes that have created fear and tension across communities, businessman and public affairs advocate, Prince Demola Adeloye, has called for a fresh approach to securing the state through the deployment of modern technology.
Adeloye, in a public intervention titled “OWN ONDO 2028: Forward Thinking,” noted that security should not be viewed through partisan lenses but approached as a collective responsibility requiring innovation and strategic planning.
According to him, Ondo State covers an estimated 15,500 square kilometres, making it increasingly difficult to rely solely on conventional security methods.
He stated that with proper planning and the strategic deployment of surveillance drones, technology could significantly enhance intelligence gathering, monitoring and rapid response capabilities across the state’s forests, highways, farms, communities and coastal areas.
Also, he observed that despite the state’s security allocation of about ₦11.5 billion in the 2025 budget, residents continue to grapple with kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal activities that have heightened anxiety among citizens and investors.
“Security is too important to be reduced to politics,” Adeloye said, stressing that his intervention was neither an accusation nor a political attack, but an invitation for stakeholders to engage in meaningful conversations on practical solutions.
He urged policymakers and security managers to ensure that every naira invested in security translates into measurable benefits for the people, adding that the future belongs to societies that combine manpower with intelligence, innovation and technology.
The advocate maintained that embracing modern surveillance systems would complement existing security structures and help tackle criminal activities more effectively.
As insecurity continues to dominate public discourse in Ondo State and across Nigeria, Adeloye’s proposal has opened conversations on how technology can be harnessed to strengthen public safety and restore confidence among residents.
“The future belongs to societies that combine manpower with intelligence, innovation and technology,” he said, while inviting citizens to contribute ideas capable of delivering lasting security solutions for the Sunshine State.
