The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled its timetable for the conduct of the 2026 primary elections, outlining a structured schedule for all elective positions ahead of the next general elections.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the timetable reflects its commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and strict compliance with electoral guidelines.
According to the schedule, the sale of nomination forms will commence from May 5 to May 10, 2026, while submission of completed forms is slated for May 11 to May 13, 2026.
Screening of aspirants will take place between May 14 and May 15, with the publication of results scheduled for May 17. Appeals arising from the screening exercise will be entertained from May 18 to May 19, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be released on May 20.
The party disclosed that primary elections will begin on May 21, 2026, with contests for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats to be conducted simultaneously at the ward level. Governorship primaries are fixed for May 22, while the presidential primary election will hold on May 25.
The timetable also provides for a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee on May 26, followed by a Special National Convention on May 27, where final ratifications of candidates are expected.
ADC further announced the approval of nomination fees for aspirants across all positions. The presidential form is pegged at ₦100 million, governorship at ₦50 million, Senate at ₦20 million, House of Representatives at ₦10 million, and State House of Assembly at ₦3 million.
In a bid to promote inclusivity, the party introduced concessional rates, offering a 50 per cent discount for youths, as well as a 25 per cent reduction for women and persons with disabilities.
The party called on all members, stakeholders, and aspirants to adhere strictly to the outlined timetable and guidelines to ensure a smooth and credible primary election process.
