NAFDAC disclosed that laboratory analysis revealed the presence of milk and egg components in the product, substances that were not declared on the label. The agency warned that the omission could expose people with allergies or intolerances to severe and potentially life-threatening reactions.
In a statement, NAFDAC said the ban was imposed in the interest of public safety, stressing that accurate product labelling is mandatory under Nigeria’s food safety regulations. The agency directed distributors, retailers, and consumers to immediately stop the sale and consumption of the affected product.
NAFDAC also advised members of the public, especially individuals with known food allergies, to exercise caution and report any adverse reactions linked to the product. The agency assured Nigerians that it would continue to intensify surveillance and enforcement to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
The regulatory body reiterated its commitment to protecting public health and warned that manufacturers found violating labelling and safety regulations would face appropriate sanctions.
