The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has officially commenced nationwide distribution of petrol and diesel, rolling out 1,000 fuel-distribution trucks across Nigeria.
The initiative, which includes the use of compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered tankers, is part of the company’s strategy to streamline logistics, lower distribution costs, and ensure steady nationwide supply.
According to the refinery, the trucks will directly deliver products to filling stations, manufacturers, telecommunications firms, and other large users, cutting off middlemen and ensuring efficiency in the downstream sector.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has welcomed the development, describing it as a major step toward ending the recurring challenges of fuel scarcity and arbitrary price hikes.
Industry analysts note that while the move is expected to ease pressure at filling stations and stabilize pump prices in urban centers, attention will now shift to how effectively the new distribution model reaches rural and remote parts of the country.
With this rollout, stakeholders say Nigerians may begin to see gradual relief from the volatility and supply gaps that have long plagued the nation’s petroleum sector.
