•••Urges Unity Ahead of Ondo Gubernatorial Election
Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has called for unity and commitment from members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the state gears up for the upcoming gubernatorial election.
Speaking at the third APC Stakeholders’ meeting held at The Dome in Akure on Thursday, the governor emphasized the importance of collective efforts within the party to secure victory.
In his address to the gathering, Governor Aiyedatiwa announced the inauguration of the APC State Campaign Council and named Hon.
Abiola Makinde, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ondo East/Ondo West federal constituency, as the Director General of the campaign.
Reflecting on the unity and dedication of party members, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his appreciation for the turnout.
“This overwhelming attendance is a testament to the commitment our members have towards ensuring the success of our party in the coming election,” he said.
He reiterated his administration’s promise of inclusiveness, noting, “This is the third stakeholders’ meeting, and it’s clear that we’ve upheld our promise of inclusivity as a party and as a government.”
The governor urged members to intensify their grassroots mobilization efforts, emphasizing the collective nature of the campaign.
“We cannot afford to be complacent; this is the time to redouble our efforts and ensure we deliver victory for the party,” he declared.
He encouraged party faithful to return to their units, wards, and local government areas to mobilize voters, especially those who may feel marginalized.
Governor Aiyedatiwa also announced the official flag-off of the APC gubernatorial campaign, scheduled to take place at the Ondo City Hall in the Central Senatorial District on October 12.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Makinde expressed his gratitude and commitment to the campaign, assuring the audience of his dedication.
“I promise that Ondo State will remain in the hands of APC,” he said confidently. “I pledge to lead a successful campaign that will consolidate our party’s hold on the state.”
Earlier in the meeting, State APC Chairman Engr. Ade Adetimehin echoed the governor’s call for unity.
“Ondo is a progressive state, and we will continue to be progressive as long as we stand united,” he said.
He reminded members that despite differing opinions, the APC remains one big family, urging them to put the party’s success above personal interests.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Deji Oyedele, an APC leader representing the South Senatorial District, who commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his commitment and presence at the meeting.
