Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has relieved Mr. Adeboye Taofiq Ewenla, the Special Assistant on Forestry (Central Senatorial District), of his duties, effective immediately.
The decision comes in response to allegations of bribery and intimidation raised against Mr. Ewenla by timber merchants in the state.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Governor also announced a thorough investigation into the activities of officials responsible for managing the state’s forest reserves.
This move aims to ensure transparency and accountability within the forestry sector.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that all political appointees must uphold the law and adhere strictly to the rules governing their positions.
He reassured the public that a replacement for Mr. Ewenla will be announced in due course.
